Unstuck AI vs. Mindgrasp AI: A Comparison for Student Productivity

Introduction

At Think Technologies, we value AI tools that solve real problems whether it is breaking through mental blocks or speeding up research.

In this case study, we tested Unstuck AI and Mindgrasp AI, two tools designed to support productivity and learning. Using identical inputs, we evaluated how each tool handles tasks like summarizing dense content, generating practical ideas, and supporting decision making. Our goal is to explore how well each one delivers on that promise across different scenarios that students and interns might have.

Methodology

Students from different academic backgrounds tested both tools in practical settings, providing feedback on usability, content quality, and learning support.

We used identical academic tasks and inputs to evaluate both Unstuck AI and Mindgrasp AI across core features like summarizing content, generating quizzes, and providing writing support.

This hands-on approach allowed us to assess performance across key areas that matter most to students in their daily academic work.

What We Tested

To evaluate both tools, we ran the same set of tasks through Unstuck AI and Mindgrasp AI, including:

  • Generating summaries from a short YouTube video (3 minutes)

  • Creating flashcards and quizzes based on that content

  • Customizing quiz length, question types, and topic focus

  • Interacting with each tool's AI assistant for follow-up support

  • Testing organization features like folders and workflow flexibility

  • Assisting with essay writing 4 including outlines, brainstorming, and structure

We focused on usability, customization, content depth, and adaptation to different study styles, evaluating how effectively each platform supports real students in everyday academic work.

When to Use Each Tool

Unstuck AI

You need help getting started whether outlining an essay, organizing thoughts, or breaking down complex tasks. It is ideal for users preferring an interactive experience with clarifying questions and personalized guidance.

With editable flashcards, structured essay support, and playback-linked citations, Unstuck works best for balancing reflection, writing, and task management. The single subscription provides full access without extra fees.

Mindgrasp AI

You are focused on speed and academic efficiency. It is perfect for quickly reviewing class materials with auto-generated summaries, quizzes, and flashcards in one step.

Its Chrome extension integrates with Canvas, Blackboard, and Panopto. With multiple source options including Google Scholar, Mindgrasp delivers fast study tools for content heavy workloads in fast paced academic environments.

User Testing and Feedback

To compare Unstuck AI and Mindgrasp AI, we created a Google Form and asked four students from different academic backgrounds to rate each tool across six categories:

  • Ease of use

  • Quality of summaries

  • Flashcard and quiz features

  • Writing/essay help

  • Organizational design/navigation

  • Overall satisfaction

    Each category was rated on a 5-point scale, with a maximum total score of 30 for each tool. We calculated total scores for both platforms and identified which tool each student preferred.

User Testing Results

User testing showed students had different preferences for AI tools based on their academic needs and workflows. The science focused students preferred Mindgrasp Al's straightforward information, while the research-oriented students chose Unstuck AI for its ability to integrate ideas across sources.

PDFs, lecture recordings, and YouTube videos making it highly effective for students managing large volumes of academic material.

Its built-in assistant and Chrome extension also enhance usability across popular learning platforms like Canvas and Blackboard.

However, the review also noted limitations, such as a steeper learning curve for new users, occasional information overload due to the volume of

generated content, and limited conversational depth when interacting with the AI assistant.

Conclusion

Unstuck AI and Mindgrasp AI are both helpful tools that serve different academic needs. Unstuck is better for organizing thoughts, planning essays, and staying focused, while Mindgrasp excels at quick tasks like summarizing, generating flashcards, and note-taking. We surveyed four students who rated both tools across six categories on a 5-point scale. The results were split4two preferred Unstuck and two preferred Mindgrasp.

As an engineering student, I personally prefer Unstuck AI because of its free plan and accessibility when I need quick, focused support. However, depending on your needs, one tool may be a better fit to improve how you study and manage your work.
